Looking for a winter beginning sounds activity? Try this snowman printable to teach letter sounds and work on the alphabet.
We love all things snow and snowmen in our class! This beginning sounds activity will work in a variety of your literacy centers during winter and is suitable for preschool, pre-K, Kindergarten and early intervention.
You can use these cards to work on a variety of pre-literacy skills:
- Phonemic Awareness: Match the picture snowflake cards to the corresponding snowman mats
- Letter-Sound Knowledge: Match the letter snowflake cards to the corresponding snwoman mats.
- Visual Matching: print two (or more) copies of the picture snowflake cards to make matching pairs
- ABC Order: Line up the letter snowflake cards in order (and then find the matching picture snowflake card!)
Some other fun ways to use these cards in your winter themed centers:
- Hide some matching manipulative objects in a winter sensory bin and match with the snowflake picture cards. (These alphabet tubs are a good source of objects!)
- Print two copies of the snowflake picture cards and play “memory“
